Crossing My To-Do-List, Short Getaway and...... : On Being An Unemployment

Since the last time I wrote, I still haven't got a full-time job. Yet. Pray with me, guys.

Like I said, for the past 3 months, I can do so many things. It feels like a holiday but the difference is, it is happening every day.

Remember when you take a long vacation and then you feel "Oh, I still got spare time until my flight home. I don't know what kind of activity I can do." Then you're just there, lying around your hotel bed and staring blankly into your ceiling? Well, that happens to me after about a month of unemployment. The difference is, I did it all day long. Kidding, I still got chores to do from washing my clothes and preparing a dish (sometimes, for breakfast or lunch). But after that, that's it. I came back to my room staring at my ceiling, blankly.

Honestly, unemployment is brutally cruel. When you sleep, you just feel guilty. Especially when you went into bed after staring at your friends Instatories about their activity at their office or they rant about their office environment or any activity they did aside from staring-at-your-room-ceiling on Twitter. But you know that you got privileges of extra leisure time than your friends have. You can hang out whenever you want, you can take a trip somewhere else. But when you hang out or do a trip, you remember you are still using your parents or close relative money. At some point, you will feel guilty with the condition and will hesitate to ask more stipend. But after some period, you feel "Naah, it's alright" then you go out again with your friends, still, using the source your parents give. And then feel "Doooh, I don't have more money" because you feel hesitate again. Repeat.

As I mentioned above, I told you that I got extra leisure time. During the lonely and winding rocky journey of unemployment, I got a chance to present my paper at The 12th International Conference on Management Research and Business 2018. It's actually my undergraduate thesis in a more concise format. To be honest, two months of doing nothing after graduation means I need to allocate more of my energy on writing an academic article journal. It's only a 10 pages article but I do feel it as exhausting as I wrote a 100 pages report I did every term on most subjects I took back in college, with my group. O, it's me and my aging typing muscle. To be honest, one of my to-do-list back in college day is to know what it feels like to present a paper at a conference. Well, not that I thought about it since my day one college. I find it would be interesting to present an academic paper maybe around.........6th term? He he. But I never got a chance to start writing and I don't know how to start it either. And not that I really into an academic thingy. It's more like I'm envy to my friend who got a chance to travel across the world by presenting their idea. But then again, I'm just too lazy to even ask "How did you do it?" to my experienced friend. He he. So I think it's not really a dream, not that something I pursue really hard. It's just a wants.

But then the chance got into me on the 8th term, while I'm working my thesis. It all starts with a chat with my supervisor. And then woosh-boom-alakazam, it happens. There. I joined the submission, got accepted, then I got to present it in Bali. My very first thought was "Yes, I can have my holiday after the conference." Ha ha. Me being so adventurous while I still need to make a very clear presentation and exercise my presentation muscle.

Me, trembling while presenting :D

With the whole presenter, lecturers and some guest

My Dearest Supervisor
(who was so impulsive, she just decided
to go to Bali in the morning on the very first day of the conference) and Ilma

What an experience! Before the presentation, I prayed there will be no questions. Surprisingly, I got three -__- On average, my fellow only got 1-2 questions. And here I am, struggling to answer the audience curiosity. I was scared back then with the possible questions that will be asked due to the novelty of my study (and also with the lack of preparation I got). In the end, I managed to answers those questions and involved in some discussion. I couldn't be more proud to myself. One to do list, crossed.

Enough with the conference. Let's move on to the short getaway.
Well, I stayed in Legian with my friend and spend the effective two days we got until our flight home to several touristy places such as Uluwatu for Sunset Kecak Show (Too bad, it was too cloudy so we don't get a chance to see the sunset. Bali was in a rainy day when I came in. Especially Sanur. It was raining cat and dog in the evening), Legian street (Just strolling around. Oh! There was a beach festival back then. I managed to come on Saturday night. What a time to come to Bali), Kuta (For some shopping and culinary things), Jimbaran (For the seafood sake, god).

Chill mode: Very High

The Kecak Show was amazing! It was boring at first
but near to the end of the show, this actor came in and crack some good jokes,
we laugh so hard about it. The good news is, every guest feels entertained by him!
Even the foreigner

We missed GWK due to sudden change of plan, thanks to the very persuasive driver we met after enjoying Nasi Pedas Bu Andika. We can't make it to Ubud or Seminyak. But it's alright. My chill side told me that "You're here for a short getaway. Don't push yourself to get into every place you want to go. Chill." In my opinion, a good trip is the one you don't feel so drained after a sightseeing into several places then you feel so tired afterward and then you just can't enjoy the rest you've been planning before. So, Bali. I'll see you soon!

Not long after I came back from Bali, I got a phone call after watching Fantastic Beasts 2 (Quick review: I can't say it's a terrible movie. It was a very fast paced movie, jumping from one to another, but it blew my mind several time. On the other hand, the visual effect and the settings and of course their wardrobe are simply marvelous. But it's a movie that bridge from the first to maybe the third or maybe fourth and fifth. Most exciting scene? Hogwarts!) about the internship opportunity on a company I always prayed to be one of my haven in the future.

Without further ado, I'm currently on a one-month internship in the company I always prayed for back then. It already a week of internship and I somewhat can get used to with the pace. I still got a small task, but I'm confident I will learn more with this company. It took a while to get into this safe haven, but I'm eternally grateful for this opportunity.

I always believe that Allah always has three answers for your prayer 1) Yes 2) Yes, but not now 3) I think I have something better. I feel like Allah reply me with the second answer but guess what? It perfectly fitted to my timeline. Imagine that if I got onboard for the internship before I go to Bali. Maybe I can't get the chance to have a short getaway. I do feel like I needed a short getaway since I've been very bored with all this apply-wait-wait-wait-got rejected things that has been going on.

So yeah, being an unemployment is not that bad :D and you will get your opportunity when you're ready. You just have to believe that everything will falls into the right place in the end.
